Chickens provide a sustainable protein source through their daily eggs, which can significantly improve the nutrition of vulnerable families. Since they’re easy to raise and multiply quickly, families can earn an additional income by selling eggs or chicks in the market.
HOW CHICKENS IMPACT A FAMILY
Anguache is a 35-year-old mother in Ethiopia. She and her husband had a difficult time providing food, education and healthcare for their children. Then she joined an FH group and received six chickens and was trained in poultry management. Since then, she has fed her children hundreds of eggs. She also was able to sell eggs in the market to help pay for her daughter’s education fees and school supplies. She is even saving money!
This year, chickens will be distributed to communities in Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Kenya & India.
