Bee Hive
£150.00
Bee Hives allow vulnerable families to earn a sustainable livelihood through the production and sale of honey and beeswax.
In Kenya, FH beehives form a fence to keep animals such as elephants from destroying other crops, protecting them from devastating losses.
WHY THIS MATTERS
A beekeeping enterprise was launched in 2013 through one of FH’s livelihood programs in Nicaragua. The group includes 10 community members and serves to harvest honey as a means to generate income for its members. The group harvests 320 liters of honey per cycle. This improves livelihoods for people like 34-year-old Norlan Amador who is proud to have been able to cover all his daughter’s education expenses this year.
This year, Bee Hives will be distributed to communities in Ethiopia.
